Our club was established in 1995 by a handful of miniature horse owners and has grown rapidly over the years.

What We Do
&
Our Goals
To promote the miniature horse in family activities
To encourage youth and novice participation
Our constant guide in planning activities for the members
Our members own minis for various reasons
To train and show, to breed and raise foals for sale, and just to enjoy as loving pets.
Seminars
We plan events to meet all members' needs.
Including topics, such as breeding/foaling, grooming/clipping, nutrition/ health and hoof care.
We also hold training seminars - with people and horses gathering at a member farm or a public arena to get "hands-on" training by our more experienced members or from a professional in driving, jumping, obstacles, halter and showmanship.
Schooling Shows are a big hit - and a big help to our youth and beginners. Held at an arena, with a carded judge, we have a one-day "show" - with regular classes. This allows people to "practice" at showing before a judge and to be able to gain experience and confidence before stepping into the ring at a Big Show.
Some of these events are free to members and others ask for a small donation to defray expenses if a lecturer is hired or an arena rented. Often we include a break at noon to enjoy a potluck luncheon and a chance to visit and share information.
We also have Play days that are fun for all members
SAAMHC Family Fiesta Show
Our own "Big Show" is the SAAMHC Family Fiesta Show, held annually in July and affiliated with AMHR & AMHA. The AMHR is a two-day event and the AMHA is a one day event offering classes and drawing participants from a wide area for a fun filled 3 day event..
SAAMHC Newsletter
We publish a Quarterly Newsletter, free with membership in the Club. It always contains good articles on care and raising of miniature horses, plus Club news, members' Brag Space, a Kids Zone for our youth, member profiles, Websites of interest, and events occurring in our area - like parades that minis and their owners may enter.
